We carry within us many selves and I find it’s very much worth asking them questions from time to time.

You can talk to the child within you, to the artist, to the happy person, to the king or queen. All that’s necessary is to ask a question and listen. I promise that when you do, you’ll hear something valuable and often surprising. You may be amazed at the clarity that is available within you when you are willing to ask for it. I know I always am!

Last year, I asked my Older Self – the self I imagine as more experienced, more confident, more at ease in the world and in her life – what she would like me to know. I think she gave me some pretty good advice and I wanted to share it with you:

  1. Plan more outings, fun, and time with people I love.

  2. Spend more time singing, composing, and writing.

  3. Shake off worry and the habit of fear. Everything is better than you even imagine!

  4. Forgive, again and again, everyone and myself. Keep lightening the load.

  5. Kate’s Heart First. Do what’s right for you; others will be fine.

Thank you for visiting me here today and I hope these pieces of counsel inspire you to have a chat with that wise self within you. If you are inspired to share, I would love to know:

What wisdom does your Older Self share with you when you ask?
