Spend the month of May in this Celtic Wisdom School course with Kate – and Salmon, Swan, and Horse!

Learn about, experience, embody and express the essence and gifts of each animal to make something new possible in your life – a shift, a step forwards, a deeper trust in the world’s magic and your own.

Our three weeks together combine video lessons and storytelling, reading booklets of traditional materials, and a weekly 90-minute gathering where the real fun, learning, and transformation happen. In addition, you’ll be invited into a one-on-one correspondence with Kate centered around each week’s powerful question. At the end of the course, you’ll receive a personal note and a certificate of completion.

Description

Join me for an invigorating exploration of three animals that play “starring” roles in Celtic myth, folklore, and life:  Salmon, Swan, and Horse.

Our time together includes storytelling, play, art-making, and access to authentic traditional materials translated from early and modern Irish and medieval and modern Welsh.

Our aim is to deeply connect you with the vitality, mystery, and transformative power of these animals.

In Sacred Animals of the Celts, you’ll learn, experience, embody, and express the essence and gifts of Salmon, Swan, and Horse.

You’ll use those gifts to make something new possible for yourself – a heart’s desire that could use a touch of magic to get it moving.

Each Monday, you’ll receive a video lesson and storytelling.

On Wednesday, I’ll send you a booklet of resources that touch on our animal of the week: stories, traditions, calendar customs, proverbs, and language notes.

On Sunday, we’ll gather for fun, art-making, creativity, and imagination practice. This is where you’ll really “meet” each animal.

At the end of each weekly gathering I’ll pose one powerful question. I’ll invite you to write to me with your ideas, answers, and dreams. And I’ll write back – a weekly correspondence that will be thought-provoking, tender, and powerful.

At the end of our time, I will send you a certificate of completion. (As the Celtic Wisdom School grows, students will be eligible for awards, prizes, and special gatherings as they participate; more on that to come!)

If you have tasted Celtic storytelling, art, poetry, and myth, you know the magic and treasure that await you here.

Tradition is meant to be a vital, inspiring, and useful part of our lives – not something tucked away in a dusty old book.

I approach the study and teaching of Celtic wisdom from two angles:  as a scholar with a PhD in Celtic Studies from Harvard University and as a singer and storyteller who weaves authentic tradition into performances at libraries, schools, and cultural centers.

I am committed to creating powerful learning experiences for my students to help them integrate intellectual learning with emotional, social, and spiritual growth.

My belief is that Celtic wisdom is here to help us grow and to create lives of joy, connection, and blessing.

FAQ

Do I need to know a Celtic language or to be of Celtic descent to take part?

Not at all! While you will certainly learn giota beag Gaeilge – a little bit of Irish – no previous experience of Irish (or Welsh, for that matter) is necessary. People of all backgrounds, races, and identities are warmly welcome to join us.

How and when do the gatherings take place?

We meet on Zoom over three Sunday mornings: 15, 22, and 29 May, 11:00-12:30. You’ll receive a link for each week’s gathering twice – with your Wednesday reading booklet and again on Sunday morning.

If I have to miss a session, will you provide a recording?

Yes, everything will be recorded and available to you on a private and secure site. Only members of the course will have access to the recordings.
