Description
“After supper songs,” is how I think of these jigs, waltzes, and tunes. I made them over the last year in that contented time after the supper dishes are cleared away and the fingers are inclined to explore and dance on the keyboard.
They are happy, upbeat, and life-affirming – and the longest of them weighs in at about two minutes.
The Moon Jig ~ I’m a fan of our nearest cosmic neighbor, and if she danced across the sky, I like to think she’d dance in 6/8 to this little tune.
The Dream Waltz ~ I woke up with the first part of this waltz ringing in my ears and made the second part the same day. Music that comes through dreams is as sweet as apple windfall.
It’s all for you ~ The title comes from my conviction that this whole world, the great buffet of it, is here for us to explore and enjoy. We don’t have to eat everything on the buffet, happily; we get to choose what we like best and devote our bellies (and our lives) to that.
The JOY Jig ~ Made when I forgot “The Moon Jig” and was trying to remember it; if you listen closely, you’ll hear that both tunes start with the same phrase. After that, “The JOY Jig” opens out into a 3-part jig that makes me bark with happiness!
On the cusp ~ I made this one on the eve of my 50th birthday. It brims with hope and mystery and the great honor of being alive.
Merrily ~ One minute of pure, laughing happiness. Imagine yourself skipping into the sunset!
